Cascade Zydeco Picnic
August 16: Ralph Olsen had us out to his "amazing" place in Vancouver. The picnic was very well-attended. There was a new pole barn, heated, with an epoxy dance floor. (Actually we didn't need the heat in the barn due to the 102° temperature on picnic day.) There were lots of toys to play with - badminton, ping-pong, horse shoes, croquet and foos ball. Other activities for entertaining yourself included an opportunity to spray paint Ralph's volkswagon bus or take a sauna and use the outside cooling tubs.
A good time was had by all. Thanks Ralph.
Oh yes, we conducted our annual business meeting. The results of the Cascade Zydeco Board election are Jim Lalone - chairman; Jamie Morgan - Vice Chairman, Patty - Kadel - treasurer; Craig Shultz, secretary; continuing members - Rosemary Sickles, new members - Janine Jemerson, John Klindt, and Ryan Matthews.
Board Members: Congratulations on your election and thank-you for the work you do for us.

Blues Festival
July 3-6: Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, included live zydeco bands and dancing. The Zydeco Romp was Saturday on July 5th. Performers included:
- Chris Ardoin & Nu Step,
- Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys,
- Cedryl Ballou and the Zydeco Trendsetters
- and Dikki Du & the Zydeco Krewe,
Lesson at Noon was with Janine & Roland on the dance floor. Mini-lessons were held between each band set all day long. The great kite-like coverings overhead were courtesy of KBOO Pickathon.

From Dick Brainard: "First a quick note re. the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival over July 4th. weekend. The Saturday zydeco "Romp in the Swamp" was awesome. Dikki Du (Troy Carrier), Chris Ardoin, Cedryl Ballou, and Rosie Ledet each played twice from noon until 11 PM. They were all "HOT," the dance floor packed to the gills, and the audience was well over 1000! Cam'ron Ballou--age 9--was the star, on drums with the Ballou band."

Spring Workshop and Dance
Date: Saturday, March 15th, 2008
Location: Norse Hall 111 NE 11th Ave, Portland, Oregon
Cascade Zydeco proudly presents its annual spring workshop and dance,
including an all-day dance workshop on Zydeco and Blues fusion and
FEATURING, live from Louisiana, CURLEY TAYLOR and ZYDECO TROUBLE. The
evening dance is from 7:30 to 11:30. Dance Admission: $17 general, $15 for
Cascade Zydeco members.

LA. We will have a pot luck supper starting at 6:30.
