What you can do to help

  1. Do you go to other dance events around town?

    • Could you do a zydeco dance demonstration?

    • Could you pass out Cascade Zydeco fliers that announce our live band dances? This is the best way to let others know about zydeco.
       

  2. Printing and distribution of fliers for live band dances at Cajun restaurants, colleges and other places around town
     

  3. Do you like to write? We need contributions to the web page. Examples might be CD recommendations, articles about recent events, background on zydeco, interview board members. Bring your own ideas to this project. (Contact: Barbara Wertz czpublicity@gmail.com.)

  4. Zydeco Dance Demos: When you attend a waltz, swing or other dance event, get the organizers to allow you to do a 3-4 minute demo after the lesson or at a break.
     

  5. Do you know someone who is in the media? Could you help us to get publicity for our events? (Contact: Barbara Wertz czpublicity@gmail.com.)
     
  6. Band transportation: Do you live convenient  to PDX & have a vehicle that can help haul band members & their instruments? (Contact: Rosemary Sickles maryflower@columbia-center.org)
     
  7. Dance door attendants - collect money at the door on Wednesday nights and for live music events.
     
  8. Live Dance Set-Up: Help unload sound equipment for about 30 minutes, usually about 1 1/2-2 hours before the dance.
     
  9. Live Dance Clean-Up: Depending on site we may need a small group to help take down decorations, haul out equipment, clean up & possible mop & vacuum. Consider it a pleasant post dance cool down. If you don't have to get up early the next day, we could use your help. Many hands make light work.
     
  10. Drum-set transportation to live dances
     
  11. Home stays for out-of-towners for dances & Blues Festival.
